QIDAN Campaigns
Queensland’s disability advocacy organisations work together to push for real change. On this page, you’ll find our campaigns—what we’re fighting for, why it matters, and how you can get involved. A campaign is a group of planned actions or messages used to make change happen. It often includes things like raising awareness, talking to decision-makers, and encouraging people to take action.
Every campaign is about building a more inclusive, accessible, and fair Queensland for all people with disability.
The DRC Still Matters
The Disability Royal Commission (DRC) was a national inquiry into the violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation experienced by people with disability in Australia. In September 2023, the Commission released its final report, making 222 recommendations and providing governments with a clear roadmap for change.
While the DRC finished over 2 years ago, many people with disability are still waiting to see meaningful reform. That’s why, after publishing our extensive analysis report that details what governments have and have not done to implement the DRC reccommendations, QIDAN is now fundraising so we can develop a DRC Tracker — a public online tool designed to translate government responses into clear, accessible updates and visually track progress on each recommendation over time.
The DRC Still Matters campaign tracks what governments are — and are not — doing in response to the DRC recommendations. Through independent analysis, accessible public information, and the development of the DRC Tracker, the project aims to keep accountability visible and support ongoing disability rights reform. Over the coming months, we will unpack each volume of the report, monitor progress, and help people stay informed, engaged, and involved in conversations about what needs to change next.
Queensland Advocacy for Inclusion (QAI) is overseeing the development of the tracker and coordinating fundraising activities that support its ongoing delivery on behalf of QIDAN.
