QIDAN Position on Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Regulation 2009

A woman in a yellow sweater sits in a wheelchair in her kitchen with a dining table and chairs.

20% of the people supported by QIDAN in 2024 were at risk of homelessness. Our data also highlights substantial unmet need for housing advocacy. In 2024 alone, 209 people could not be assisted due to sector capacity limits, 13% of these people were at risk of/ experiencing homelessness.

Many of these issues are directly related to the effectiveness and efficiency of the current Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Regulation 2009. This paper draws upon QIDAN’s depth of insight to suggest reforms that strengthen housing stability, accessibility, and security for people with disability.
